This
Sunday we will be discussing Sister Julie B. Beck's April 2012 General
Conference talk, "The Vision of Prophets regarding Relief Society:
Faith, Family, Relief." Sister Beck teaches us about the three clear
purposes of Relief Society--Faith, Family, and Relief. She says, "From
[prophets] counsel, it is clear that the purposes of Relief Society are
to increase faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and
homes, and seek out and help those in need." President Boyd K. Packer
has likened Relief Society to "a protecting wall." As sisters we have
the responsibility to strengthen each other, give relief, and help meet
temporal and spiritual needs.
In the recently released book, "Daughters in My Kingdom," we can
learn principles about who we are, what we believe and what we should
protect. Sister Beck uses this book several times in her talk as a
reference. Please bring your copy to Relief Society to help in the
discussion. Also, make sure to read the talk.
